Model UN or Model Circus? When Diplomacy Took a Coffee Break

The MUN apparently set a low budget reality show where logic, decorum and basic common sense were all left at the door. The delegate of Libya spent the session hiding behind the excuse “This is my first MUN”, as though being a beginner grants immunity from saying anything meaningful. When they did speak, we were blessed with the mysterious brilliance, “My head is the source”, which left everyone wondering if we’d accidentally joined a philosophy seminar.

Mexico, in true chaos mode, decided to wage was on the press, calling them “useless” with the kind of confidence that comes only from not having single argument in hand. Most of the committee, instead of pushing back, just nodded along like a flock of clueless people. Professionalism? A concept as foreign to this committee as coherent debate.

The UK delegate’s big contribution was table-tapping while the press got insulted, because nothing screams leadership like applauding bad behavior. Ethiopia's delegate, meanwhile raised confusion to an art form, opting to mistreat the press instead of admitting they had no idea what was going on. Delegates spent more time complaining that the press “made no sense” rather than addressing actual questions, which is ironic considering their own speeches were meaningful talks.

Next time, maybe bring arguments inside of alibis. Stop the table-tapping seal act, spare us the recycled excuses, and for the love of MUN, try answering questions without sounding like broken English phrases.
