With the Taiping Rebellion tearing China apart putting many lives at stake, one would expect the Chinese National People's Congress to rise to the occasion. Instead, the delegates found themselves navigating something just as chaotic, each other. Things specifically took a turn when a frustrated delegate found himself openly talking to the head chair in informal language saying ‘deadass’ to him. The room burst into laughter, however the head chair… didn't seem too pleased. The statement earned a sheer look of plain disappointment from the head chair followed by their request to have them be a bit more ‘competent’. Ouch.

But the drama didn't stop there. The same delegate demanded that Hong Xiuquan, leader of the Taiping heavenly kingdom be punished despite him being in the same cabinet. The revolutionaries were now revolting against themselves. Furthermore, Delegate Wei ChangHui decided to take the floor giving a passionate speech…in a Singaporean accent while representing China. In a committee rooted in Chinese history, the disconnect wasn’t just audible, it was cultural. For a committee meant to solve one of the bloodiest conflicts in China, clearly this committee had other problems to solve, themselves.
