AU or EWW?

Its day 1, committee session 1, and the African Union, committee could not get more

entertaining to watch. The first thing heard when entering the committee was “Resolutions

waste time” from the Delegate of Nigeria. This alone said a lot about where the committee’s

discussion was going.

As energetic as the delegates were, they seemed to be equally over-confident. Its hard to tell

what the delegate of Nigeria was even trying to accomplish. Within 5 minutes of sitting in that

committee, he proudly opened ChatGPT, showed his screen, and said “yeah! I'm using it”. Not only that, but he was constantly caught using WhatsApp Web and Instagram on his laptop, and

once confronted, he would happily start posing for a picture to be taken. Rather than paying

attention to the speeches being delivered during the GSLs, he was clearly more focused on

receiving attention from the Press delegates. Imagine! If a committee has delegates like these,

how are they supposed to advance? No resolutions? No valid contribution to the committee?

Honestly, nothing can be done except for praying for these people.

The committee session had more than 25 minutes left, and when the dais opened the floor for any motions, delegates instantly yelled ”motion to adjourn debate”. Not only did this emphasize on their own disinterest for the committee, but also showed how they do not wait to be recognized and keep yelling in an uncivilized manner.

The ONLY entertaining part of the session was when delegates like South Africa decided to

attack Switzerland, and actually debate with valid points rather than hoping to just get over with

the agenda.

Hopefully, the following committee sessions will be more entertaining and fruitful for everyone!
