“Solutions” to halting the international smuggling of synthetic opioids, a seemingly elementary moderated caucus that began with USA unsurprisingly trumpeting their brilliant previous actions, followed by Ethiopia’s US$3-5 billion mobile inspection team plan, took an almost pitiable turn when the the delegates of Mexico walked in with a plan: Teamwork. 

The delegates began with stricter rules on international shipping, “international support”, and a “comprehensive, collaborative and balanced approach”. As polished as the speech may have been, four questions from multiple delegates about Mexico’s opioid situation and possible solutions later, one solution about integrating third parties to check ports was the final result. And of course, the constant parroting of Mexico’s request for “help” from the committee to mitigate their booming drug cartel predicament.

“We are here to seek help”, they said.

This press delegate sincerely hopes that help arrives, and “comprehensive, collaborative and balanced” solutions if that’s on the agenda.
