The Uhhmm-Filled Oration

A delegate from Switzerland went to the podium and delivered her speech—a speech void of anything significant. Her audience was left at loss of words at her lack of preparedness; what should have been an opportunity to discuss Switzerland's dual commitment to international law and state sovereignty ended up to be a bad case of verbal dyslexia punctuated with awkward hand gestures.

The speech included plenty of "umms" and "uhhhs”, signalling to everyone in the room that she had done 0 research. Instead of articulating Switzerland's position of supporting international law and treaties, the delegate seemed to be simply searching for menuscripted words. If that wasn't enough, the speech was also full of many undocumented hand movements to accompany the absence of substantive content.

In the end, it was not only a missed opportunity, but the absence of a clear understanding of a well-crafted foreign policy, and, as it ultimately turned out, an outcome of disappointment.

For now, the most uninterested press delegate, signing off.
