CANBERRA, Australia – The Historical Parliament of Australia (HPOA), convened to tackle the Great Depression, began in a stunning display of inaction. Productivity and enthusiasm exited the room, leaving delegates in a GSL so sparse it echoed. Empty speeches met silence, with calls for POIs going unanswered.

The committee's inertia was so profound that, in a desperate bid to rouse it, the dais directly appealed for motions. When met with an overwhelming lack of response, a sudden catastrophe was introduced, seemingly to give the delegates a reason to feel alive.

This crisis, finally, spurred action. Senators jumped to interrogate, and frequent informal arguments erupted. Delegate Charles Hardy proposed selling gold for wheat but then bafflingly confused the USA and UK. Pressed with POIs, he responded with more questions. Sir Stanley Bruce remained "deaf" despite repeated calls, while major stakeholder John Albert Beasely was engrossed in WhatsApp. Delegates repeated redundant questions, and one even suggested a barter system with citizens who had nothing.

Day one of the HPOA was a chaotic spectacle. The nation's crisis found its match in the committee's disarray.
