Diet Opens Debate on Japan's Nuclear Future

As the committee session started, everything was going well. Delegates writing opening speeches, speaking and expressing their thoughts and voicing out their concerns, alas it seems that most of the delegates speeches were lacking originality and everyone was repeating the same points over and over again, like a broken cuckoo clock.

During the GSL, it was mostly Liberal Democratic Party(LDP) against Centrist Reform Alliance (CRA),both had solid points; CRA talking about mass protests from the public, and government crisis if the nuclear deterrence comes to pass due to previous events concerning about the Hiroshima and Nagasaki, whose impact left the entirety of Japan scarred for generations. However, LDP looks towards the future, raising questions against the pacifism of CRA. One such delegate even stated that others

(meaning other countries) may view Japan's pacifism as a liability and questions the competence of the CRA.

One doesn’t even need eyes to understand that the CRA is struggling against the LDPs strong points and advances. A delegate from the CRA “accidentally” wrote their opening speech supporting the LDP side, and only realised much later, proving the point brought across by the LDP. However, I was appalled to see the number of poi’s raised- zero, not even one poi’s were raised from all three parties, this makes me question whether the delegates are actually listening to the session or not, and all the motions raised were

highly generic and were continuously repeated, allowing the committee to move little to no where.
