The United States Senate or Unspoken Scribbles and Silence?

The United States Senate began with an unexpected silence as they started with their speeches. However, massive flurry of activities under the desks were taking place. Instead of hearing powerful speeches and sharp policy debates, observers were treated to a room entirely preoccupied with scribbling secret messages. 

Rather than utilising POIs to drive the debate forward, the delegates chose a much quieter, far less courageous way:exchanging an endless stream of paper chits. 

The delegates spent their time writing private note for each other instead of defending their state’s interests. When active questioning was desperately needed for the committee to push the agenda along, delegates were engrossed in gathering paper chits. Watching the session, one had to wonder whether the delegates were actually negotiating a crucial legislative response or if they were simply taking it as a group chat.

To conclude, passing notes might save a delegate from the anxiety of speaking, but it certainly won’t pass a resolution. If the USS expects to resolve this crisis, the delegates need to put down their pens and actually use their voices to represent themselves.
