ISSD: Fighting the Mafia… and Parliamentary Language

Today’s ISSD committee proved that eliminating the mafia isn’t the only challenge on the agenda.

Throughout the session, delegates delivered passionate interventions, but they also managed to create a few memorable moments that the Press simply couldn’t ignore. The committee’s favourite adjective quickly became “incompetent.” It was used so frequently that, by the end of the session, it sounded less like an insult and more like official committee terminology. The quote of the day undoubtedly belongs to Franco Messina, who openly admitted, “I was not able to find any tactics.”

It was a refreshingly honest statement, perhaps a little too honest for a crisis committee. Parliamentary language also seemed to take a brief holiday, with a few delegates forgetting that strong arguments are generally more persuasive than strong words.

Meanwhile, the delegate Toto Inzerillo appeared to receive a helping hand from AI.

Despite these entertaining moments, the committee remained energetic, with delegates actively engaging in the crisis and responding to the fast-paced developments. If the theft commission brings just a few more tactics, a little less “incompetence,” and slightly more parliamentary language, the mafia may finally have something to worry about.
